Beli Iskar eco-trail - a beautiful meeting with nature

Beli Iskar is located at the foot of Mount Musala in the Rila Mountains. There is extremely beautiful nature, which is suitable for mountain and rural eco-tourism. The village is located about 75 km from Sofia and 5-6 km from Borovets and Samokov. It is conveniently located at the foot of Rila at about 1100 meters above sea level. The biggest attraction in the village is the eco-trail, which starts very close to it and takes you to Rila National Park.

As soon as we enter the village we see a large billboard indicating that here in the church "Uspenie Bogorodichno" in 1912 Yavorov married Lora. In the village there are historical fountains and wells such as the Military Fountain, Kaden Well and Beliov Well, and in the historic area Demir Kapiya were some of the biggest battles during the Liberation.

But our goal today is the Beli Iskar eco-trail. The trail starts about 3 km after the village of Beli Iskar. Go through the village on the main road past the town hall and continue straight on. The starting point of the route has approximate coordinates: 42.243470, 23.541089. We chose to leave the cars at the end of the village and walked along the small road, surrounded by forests and meadows to the beginning of the trail. You will recognize it in the marked parking lot to the right of the road.

The Beli Iskar eco-trail is about 6 km long, but the good thing here is that you can walk as much as you want, because you are constantly passing along the main road and you can go back to the car. The route runs mainly along the river on a forest path and crosses the water on many wooden bridges. The marking is blue and is placed quite often so that no one is lost. There are several gazebos where you can sit down to relax and eat.
image
The trail starts from the first bridge "Blue Pool" which you cross in the forest and leads you on a small path by the river. We are very impressed by the nice signs, as well as the Braille inscriptions for blind people.
image
Not long after we cross the bridge №2 - "Sunrise". The bridges are quite beautiful and have a nice view, and as you walk on them you can feel the coolness of the river passing under your feet.
image
image
We cross the bridge №3 "The Two Stones" and the bridge №4 "Tis" before reaching the recreation area "The Lake". Unfortunately, during our crossing the river was quite overflowing and there was no recreation area, and the lake was part of the river. But we promised to come back to see him too.

There are separate gazebos where we can stop to rest and eat quickly. Signs remind us to collect our garbage and throw it away when we return to the village.

We continue through the forest to reach bridges №5 "Big one", №6 "Bor" and №7 "Aramlia". After the seventh bridge, the path leads us to a shelter / house in the forest, which is very beautiful and cozy. We stop for a while to enjoy the view, eat and recharge our batteries.
image
After the house you go down to the last bridge - №8 "Sularo". He takes us back to the road that will take us to the parking lot.
image
But before the parking lot you will see a sign and a path flowing into the forest on your left. "Panoramic site" we read.
- "Hmm ... should we go?"
- If they have made a panoramic playground, then the view is really worth it. Shall we go?
- "We're going!"
image
And for a moment we did not regret it. The path winds through the forest up and down, from left to right and after 10 minutes took us to the panoramic site. And we were out of breath ...
image
The view was unrecognizable. Below we imagined what nature looked like, but no one suspected how beautiful this place was seen from above.
image
After enjoying the amazing view we took the path back to the car. On the way back we passed the Beli Iskar checkpoint. Unfortunately the house was closed, but we enjoyed the information boards in front with photos and information about animals that you can meet.

A moment for photos on the way back ...

And our walk ends back at the car. We made it longer and more interesting with a few kilometers of walking and this led us to the final result of 14 km. The walk was extremely leisurely and pleasant, without rushing anywhere, and took us about 5 hours.
image
Keep in mind that you can return to the car on the asphalt road at almost any time. We are just adventurers and mountain lovers плани

The trail was extremely pleasant and charged us with energy and positive emotions. And we promise ourselves that we will come back..

And that's exactly what we will say
See you soon, Beli Iskar!
