
The fortress of Cape St. Atanas is one of the hidden jewels on our coast. It was discovered by Herman and Karel Shkorpil and described in 1892 as a small fortress south of the village of Ak Dere (today's town of Byala). According to archaeological excavations, the fortress dates back to the V-VI centuries BC and was developed in the years up to the VII-th century. It was a port city where trade developed, pottery was made and wine was produced.
See moreThe sunken church "St. Ivan Rilski" is located in the Zhrebchevo dam, in the village of Zapalnya. It was built in 1891-1892 and was an important spiritual center for the local population. In the 1960s, the construction of the dam began. The village of Zapalnya, along with the villages of Zhrebchevo and Dolno Panichеrevo, were erased from the map of Bulgaria, and their inhabitants were evicted.

Grado peak is located in Ponor mountain. With its 1082 meters, it is definitely not the highest peak in the mountain, but the path to it will fascinate and captivate you. It is located near the village of Breze, which is a little off the road Sofia - Montana, about 50 km from Sofia. The path to the top is 5.5 km long and takes an hour and a half at a normal pace. The peak is not very clearly defined, but from there you can see a great view of the village of Breze, the village of Dobravitsa and the rock phenomenon Stolo, which is one of the symbols of Ponor.

The Glozhene Monastery is one of the most magical orthodox monasteries in Bulgaria. It is located on a rocky edge of Mount Lisets and is surrounded by impenetrable rocks on three sides. Only the created path allows access to it. It was created in the 13th century by the Kiev prince George Glozh. He chooses as his home a place near the village of "Glozhene" in the "Gradishteto" area. However, the icon of St. George predicts another place for its home - high on the rocks of this difficult to reach and majestic place.
